View Full Version : Bleedless Engines for the 7E7?

I have just read a news article about the B7E7 and its engines.

The article makes mention of a "bleedless engine" design.

Does anyone know how this would work? Where would you get sufficient air for the packs etc? What about anti-ice? And cross bleed starting? I was under the impression that bleeding air was actually quite a useful and efficient way of sustaining those accessories (electric starters are supposed to be inefficient??)

Furthermore, the A330 is likely to suffer as it could have adapted the 7E7 engine at some stage!

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

P.s Is it true that GE are striving for exclusivity on the 7E7?

Have heard as well that they are going for exclusivity - I doubt they will be allowed by competition authorities, as the market is far larger for the 7E7 than it was for the 777 varients that they did get exclusivity for.
