Multi Crew Course

Can anyone tell me if Flight Engineers are exempt the Multi Crew Course element of the JAR ATPL?

Having sat there for countless hours in a real time 'classroom', it seems a bit daft to have to go and sit through the course unless it tells me something I dont already know?

If you have more than 500 hours of multi crew or multi engine (can't remember which) you don't need this course. Or so I'm told.
