What a beautiful weekend weather-wise!

We actually decided to spear off in the Regent to the Scillies on Sunday until we discovered that it doesn't open on Sundays.......Wierd that.

We therefore decided to follow the recommendations posted previously and visit the Crab & Lobster at Bembridge.

It really is everything it has been cracked up to be. We had a wonderful lunch on the pubs cliff top terrace.

If you are going to do it - a few tips -

1. Arrive no later than midday if you want a nice table outside.
2. They don't take bookings.

Directions -

Walk out of the airfield and turn left up the little hill.

Just over the brow is a public footpath on the left. This takes you past a windmill (very pretty and open to the gen pub) through some really nice woods and eventually to a main road.

You now need to make a choice -

Quick way - Carry on straight into town along the main road. Pick up the signs for the C & L on your right just before you arrive at the seafront. Total strolling time - 25 mins.

Nicer way - When you get to the main road, turn right instead of straight on and walk to the coast. The cliff top walk is well signposted but were a little overgrown on Sunday so keep your eyes peeled for them.

Follow the cliff top path all the way into Bembridge and you will literally end up walking through the garden of the pub. It is impossible to miss it. Total strolling, avoiding nettles, stopping to admire the nice views etc. - 40 minutes.

What you can also do is take your cossies and also spend a little time on the sandy beach near the airfield. Simply cross the road opposite the airfield (don't climb the hill), past the caravans and down onto the beach - 10 minutes.

What we did was take the cliff top route there and the more direct route back after having spent an hour on the (shingle) beach near the lifeboat station. To get there, simply carry on along the path after your wonderful lunch - it meanders through a small housing estate at one stage - total time from the pub - 15 minutes.

The return, direct route to the airfield from the lifeboat station (lots of ice-cream flavours in the seafront cafeteria there!) is blissfully simple.

Walk inland from the lifeboat station - over 2 mini roundabouts and pick up the signs for the windmill you walked past earlier - total time from the lifeboat station - 20 minutes.

Bare ankles - not a good idea - the paths are a little overgrown.

Sunday Roastie - Yum! Nicky had lobster. However - it all looked good as it came out of the kitchen, served up by an army of pretty young ladies.

So - get there no later than 12.00.

ENJOY!!
