Not sure of the details but I think there is some sort of honesty box/sign-in system.
I also understand that they need aircraft movements to help fight a development plan.

Indeed it is - do drop in and give them a call! Honesty box at the end of the runway...sign up - the movements are needed - Ill be dropping in there myself soon!
Why wasn't this place suggested for a fly-in then???

Finmere isn't that big - I don't know what sort of respones you get to pprune fly-ins but I suspect it would fill up very quickly. Come to RAF Bicester tomorrow and have a look whilst your in the area

BRL, it was, (on the day we had the Turweston Fly-in but Turweston would only let us each have one landing because no-one had checked with them that they had movements limits). Unfortunately only Kingy and I turned up there. Long hard runway in good condition and they need our support.

Chaps,
I've flown in to Finmere a few times this year and I was thinking of putting forward the field as a venue for a fly in, but the lack of an obvious toilets was seen as a big drawback by my female companion and fellow prunner!
It’s a nice field, with an 800M long very wide paved runway. Approaches are good, but don't fly over the Sunday market at the western end of the runway (offset approach, departure) Also, keep a good look out for aero-modellers - a pass over the runway is recommended to tell them you are coming in.

If you hop over the fence to the go-cart track next door there's a reasonable greasy-spoon cafe which I'm pretty certain has loos.

Thanks every one for their input. The reason I asked is that
the PPR contact is no available due to a bereavement and
I was unsure if this had stopped flying into the site. I take it
from the responses it hasnt.

Finmere's a lovely little strip... but as Kingy says, there aren't any toilet facilities. :O I didn't spot Genghis' greasy spoon.
The recommended procedure for landing there is to do a low circuit first, as aero modelers frequently use the place. Then, as has been said, sign the book at the end of the runway.

Spoke to the new owner recently. There is every intention of improving the current aerodrome, but it's a case of 'softly, softly'.........

Anyone know what the current PPR number is - or do I need PPR? I see that Finmere isn't in the current VFR flight guide, but I thought if they needed more movements I might pop over tomorrow and up their numbers by one...

Last time I spoke to him there was no PPR, just the procedure I mentioned above.

Speaking as a Finmere based aircraft owner can I just advise any potential visitors to the airfield of the current situation.
The airfield is PPR by telephone only. However, the owner has said in his latest newsletter that as he doesn't live near the airfield he has no way of checking whether people drop in or not!
The situation with our neighbours has been very good for a number of years but is potentially very fragile at the moment for various reasons. Therefore can there please be NO circuit activity whatsoever if you do visit and DO NOT descend dead side.
We share the runway with aeromodellers and there is also a public footpath which crosses the width approx. 1/2 way down.
For sensible reasons we join overhead to check for the presence of both model aircraft and walkers and ALL circuits to land are TO THE SOUTH for both runway directions. Under no circumstances fly over the nearby villages, especially Finmere village.
By the time you turn finals the very courteous modellers will have pulled in their craft but I can't promise the same for walkers to have left the runway...they have priority!
Runway elevation is 430' amsl. and there is, as others have indicated, a booking-in point.
There is nothing very much there but you're welcome to drop by and you may even meet that happy bunch of real aviators that are fortunate enough to be based there.

Seriously, do remember the Grand Prix in July gets quite busy.
