Awhile ago I'm sure there was a post on PPrune about a China airlines 747 en route from Asia to CDG which departed Taipei (I Think) with only 3 engines, one being held together in less than the correct manner. The flight used more fuel than accounted for and had to divert to Frankfurt where the German authorities grounded the aircraft because 2 of the other engines were faulty.
I have done a search but can find nothing, can PPrune members help in my request and tell me it was not an alcohol induced dream!
TIA

That story was fabricated. There was a picture of damaged fan blades, but the story that went a long with it was not true.

iain,
Thanks for that, it did seem a bit far fetched but then again wasn't it CI who departed the airport from the taxiway in Alaska?

Many airlines have had such incidents with mistaking taxiways for runways; it can happen quite easily. I find finding the airport to be the easy part, it is finding the park spot the tough bit.
