View Full Version : Concorde Take offs

Hi All
Yesterday evening, while awaiting Concorde to depart on Runway 27L, which was the current departure runway, we were suddenly graced to see it take off on 27R which was the departing runway at the time.

Can someone explain to me why this happens.. I could assume that if it took off on the departure runway it would catch up very quickly on already departed traffic and cause problems that way, but thats only an assumption.

Can a LHR controller perhaps shed some light?

Thanks

Pretty sure this has been discussed before (but can't find the thread)

Has something to do with runway surface during resurfacing, I think.

I presume you meant that 27R was the arrival runway?

I can't find the thread either, but Wycombe is right. At the moment, Concorde will only depart from the northern runway (09L/27R) due to "ramps" or bumps on the southern runway.

Although, it can now land on both runways.

Is this (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52829&highlight=concorde) what you're searching for?

Did you take a good look at concorde? You better commit that picture to memory as its a sight you wont see again soon. When is the last flight, October is it? Such a shame.....
