CAA Paper 2003/03: Effects of Interference from Cellular Telephones on Aircraft Avionic Equipment

This Paper gives details of the testing of a set of avionic equipment for susceptability to cellphone interference. The testing was done under controlled conditions in a test chamber. The equipment, comprising of a VHF communications transceiver, a VOR/ILS navigation receiver and a gyro-stabilised remote reading compass system, was assembled to create an integrated system. A number of anomalies were found and are detailed in the report. The test results endorse current policies restricting the use of cellphones in aircraft.

Hey there,

Glad to see a mention for this report. I am currently trying to write a dissertation for this subject area. But not wanting to simply paraphrase the actual CAA report i'm looking some reactions or critical comments on the report to give me an argumentative angle when writing it.

Or if this is not possible does anyone have ideas for an aircraft-science based dissertation ??

Many thanks in advance if you can help.

Cheers,
Wt.
