Caught what sounded like a news-flash about SXF at 14:50 yesterday (9th March) while driving on the approach road to the airport...all in German, though, and I don't speak the lingo. Next thing I see is dozens of police cars and other emergency vehicles (lost count at 20) moving in three separate convoys on the opposite carriageway.. .. .Half expected SXF to be closed, etc, but no. Business apparently normal, and no-one seemed to know what might have happened. If anything.. .. .Anyone able to enlighten me?

Yes Sir; directly from a Berlin resident:. .What you noticed was one of those annual test scenarios for the ground staff usualy needed in case of . . .. .Scenario was: crash landing of a jet airliner in SXF, fuselage broken in three parts, looked very realistic in local TV.. .All organisations involved were reported to be successfull at the end, some criticism as usual to become an even better standard.. . . . [ 11 March 2002, 06:39: Message edited by: railwaysengineer ]

Aha! All is made clear. Thanks Railways. Glad it wasn't anything "real"...
