Can anyone tell me whether or when the 200s are getting phased out in sequence with the introduction of the 737-800?

Or how many more years are ryanair planning on keeping them?

If they are managed by the same bean counters as the Buzz staff, they will be gone in days rather than years

I was of the impression that the 800's are unable to get into some of the smaller airfields RYR use, such as Derry (LDY) and Carcassonne (CCF). This would mean that they'd have to keep them. As always I may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure I heard that from a reliable source.

CCF was extended and the 800 now flys in there quite happily..

They are all due to be retired this year. Due to an accident I believe one has already been withdrawn, but thats not definite.

Funny how weve all got used to quieter aircraft. The timmcat residence is now only shaken by the aforesaid Ryanair 737-200 climbing through around 3000 ft overhead on route to Dublin. We dont notice anything else now.

Will miss it in some perverse way.

Sorry to disappoint you all but the -200's will start to be phased out at the end of the year starting with the oldest ones and the newest ones won't be going until 2006.

For the smaller airfields we now have the ex Buzz -300's and all the short runways are due to be extended, so no problems there either.

RE the Buzz 146-300s, what's the latest in terms of numbers staying, where they will operate and how long they will stay in the fleet.

The pre-MOL Ryanair did look at 146s as a 1-11 replacement, but the conversion to pure low cost airline meant they bought up old 737-200s instead.

There is a list of the destinations to be served with the ex Buzz aircraft and some of the routes will be flown with 146.

2 of them will be retained until the end of the year as it stands at the moment.
