Some time ago a usually well informed colleague told me that the future of Scottish Information on 119.87 was in threat.

Is this just evil hear say, or might the powers that be kill of this superb service, employing excellent FISOs?

I am not entirely sure that the management can do that. I believe that providing a Scottish and/or London Information service is part of NATS licence to provide an ATC service for the government. It is also I think, part of ICAO stardard of service.

True, but there's no requirement to provide a dedicated frequency/FISO. As happens already at night, it may be that the sectors end up providing FIS "on the side"! I'm sure the TMA guys/gals won't mind getting the odd freecall :)
