Ref the threads about flying schools in the US being shutdown, and UK trainees over there losing thousands of dollars (see here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83029) and here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81614) and here (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82574)), it seems that people are learning that "cheaper" isn't always a good idea!
Hope this brings some cheer to you guys. I trained in the UK, and am glad I did :D
