The above organisation is advertising for charitable donations in some of the UK papers this week. Sounds like a great idea.

Sorry to sound like a SOG but, before I put my hand in my pocket, does anyone know whether this is a charity where most of the donations are put to good use?

I don't know anything about Orbis (UK), but the US Flying Eye hospital has been operating for over 20 years. First with a DC-8 and now a -10. I would assume the UK branch is on the level, but how efficient it is I couldn't say. Here (http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm/bay/search.summary/orgid/4368.htm) is an assessment of the parent organization.

But the airplane is definitely real, seen it several times myself.

Thanks Paper Tiger. Not a particularly good score.

Apparently their DC-10 will be at Stansted between 29/3-9/4 on a goodwill visit. Then it goes to the States for more goodwill visits.

Doesn't look as if it is going to do any "real" work until August, although currently in Ethiopia.
