Can someone shed some light on what CAP 371 really means when it says that "crew members who are employed on a regular early morning...".

Our company which has recently broken into the scheduled market and defines "regular" as a week (5 days). They are also rostering, during this 5 consecutive days, starts varying from 0455 to 0600 and destinations varying from 45 minutes away to 2 hours away.

It appears that as with most of the CAA documents they are open to interpretation, but surely such a mix of start times and destinations can't be "regular" !?!

Thanks

Exactly ! You must have special dispensation from the CAA to operate the 5 consecutive earlies and it must be displayed in the crewroom for all to see.
This clause was originally aimed at the "Night Freight Boys" but has been abused by all and sundry.

I also belive that you must also be "Rostered" for a minimum of three weeks of such duties at a time. This prevents unscrupulous operators from taking the P1ss.

Hope this helps.

Smokie has it right.
Regular means at least 3 consecutive weeks.
CHIRP raised the question with the CAA; try their website.
