I'm only posting this here cause I'm not back at work for a bit, and was having an argument with somebody about it

Is OPM in use at Swanwick?

No, but the equipment to implement it is currently being installed.

Thanks NN,

Haven't been down there for ages, and can't remember seeing anything.

Don't forget to take your card out before getting to the front door......pain in the a$$ walking all the way back!! (Entertaining for others though!)

OPM in use at TC. It's a right pain in the backside though!! It keeps breaking down (shame), can't use it on nights and the "spare" barcodes haven't arrived yet, so if you forget you pass, the GS has to manually put your hours on the system each time you work.

Oh and it pouts if you take 29 minutes break instead of 30.

Oh hum!!!

30 minutes Good - 29 minutes 59 seconds Bad (that's for breaks, not time on sector)
However, those of you at LACC (aka lack) have little to worry about according to the rumour-mill.
Apparently with S7,3 and 4 bandboxed the other week, and rather large delays, and consequently not much traffic through the sector , the longest anyone plugged in there was 27 minutes before they had a break !

Ayr,

Without ALL the facts available your post is a little ingenuous. How many people were available on the sector?

A minimum of 6 is required to split the airspace 2 ways so any less means it will stay together. If the staff are single sector valid then they would not be able to be deployed elsewhere-well done management!! In the above case then yes it is true the sector CANNOT be split, flow will of course be imposed-or would you prefer your colleagues suffered an overload?-and the staff will do OK break wise.

Greebson,

Approx 33% of staff have volunteered to do the overtime-what does that say to you?

Indeed the take up is much less than management required.

Some other Area units are falling over themselves to do it although some local managers are refusing to let staff do the additional time at the agreed rate. You can be sure that if staff had been available for the above situation they would have been brought in. Also don't forget that there are people out of the operation for the North Sea training. There aremany complaints that people have volunteered are not being used and will already be tight on time to fit all the duties in.

Definitely NOT user friendly at the moment in LTCC. But has anyone got a few pennies to make the changes needed?

I hear that OPM would have been interesting during the CEO's visit to LACC the other week. The wanted to open a sector, brought in people on AVA's and then found they hadn't got, and couldn't get any ATSA's!! The AVA's had a wasted morning. Hope the CEO got to hear about that! :D

I was only asking..........

But, if we are going to start sledging it, it is more than just leaving you pass in the slot and walking out without it. Using it at the moment, who can honestly say that they have started handing over, and either person has said "Oh, don't forget your pass" or something like that, and had the good ole "PRAWNS" interrupted? And waiting for a little light to go green, which may mean removing and entering your card a few times. What's wrong with a piece of paper?

Why not be done with it and have Retina scans........
