View Full Version : Got a NATS Interview ?? Read here first.

With each series of NATS selection tests we get the same questions popping up from those who are seeking the hints and tips to help them pass.

Normally a search through the site will find most of the answers, however, for someone new to PPRuNe this may not be at all obvious.

So, before you post your questions ladies and gents, please look at these links and read them first. There's a good chance that what you want to know is in them !!

Some of the information is a little old, however, the selection process has not changed dramatically in that time.

If we have any volunteers to put all the info in a single thread which we could then keep stuck here at the top as a FAQ, the staff at PPRuNe Towers would be very interested to hear from you !!!!!

The Tiscali based website will no longer be updated.

You can now find the website HERE (http://freespace.virgin.net/at.co/home.htm)

and a quick link to frequently asked questions HERE (http://freespace.virgin.net/at.co/atco/resources/NATS_FAQ.pdf)

Good luck in your application :ok:

Hi there!

I have the selection tests in August and I have read many of the threads on here which have been very helpful. I know that there will be a variety of practical assessments - logic, maths, spatial testing and I was wondering if apart from the few examples given here

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/radar2001/resources/TEST%20DAY.htm

if there were other more in-depth sites that would really give me a good all-round practice of the types of tests I'm going to be faced with on the day.

In terms of background reading and information gathering, I think I'll be okay - its the test side thats worrying me more.

Hoping you can help me!

Cat

That isn't the most up to date version of the site.

Read the 2 posts after the big list on the sticky thread and find the right one

Just got through assessment day at the second time of asking and set the date for my interview. I guess the personality interview is something that can't really be prepped for but before I shell out about £100 on books I would be very grateful if anybody could give me some idea of the level of detail/knowledge needed for the occupational/motivation interview - level of aircraft recognition & details etc etc. Also can anybody shed any light on the mysterious computer assessment and what it consists of. Thanks very much - hope to be joining you all soon.

Hiya

I am due to take ATC aptitude test in February in Bournemouth. This year all details were online. I have got the motivation paper on aircraft etc. I have read through all the threads on ATC tests on this site. What I would like to know is 'Are the tests the same as last year? - cubes, number checking, basic arithmetic and diagramming? - as this is not stated in the information they give you. Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hello!!
I've the interviews on Tuesday and I've decided not to wear a suit....
Is that a bad idea???

If it is the intial selection day there is no need to wear a suit.

If you are attending the second phase (i.e. interview) then you probably should wear a suit.

cheers and Good Luck

In this very good resource the NATS paper has a mysterious fifth test that is not on the site. Is this still in the test? and is it simple. Also with reguard to the sample paper, is the actual question set likely to be more difficult or is every candidate likely to get near full marks?

Also, are you still supposed to recieve test examples from NATS?

No, you will be directed to a website instead:

http://www.shl.com/SHL/en-int/CandidateHelpline

...where you will be able to look at test examples. This link will be given to you in your email inviting you to the initial selection tests.

Hi people,

i've got the selection tests coming up pretty soon and needless to say i'm glad i found the information posted on this site. Still got one Q about the maths bit tho..obviously calculators aren't allowed but are you allowed to scrawl down notes on working the sums cos i find that much easier?

I'm getting kinda nervous now

Hey guys,

Is anyone else going to be at the Novatel in London on the 18th? Would be good to get to know a few of the other candidates before arriving. :ok:

Hello all,

Before I get shot down with criticism for not searching through what is already on the forum (which I have done, all very useful) I’d just like to state that my situation is a little different:

I live in Australia and have been invited for stage one of the selection. I’ve only got the one shot at this as I’m an old timer at the age of thirty. I persuaded HR to give me a chance as I’m a commercial flying instructor.

It’s going to take a lot of effort to get half way round the world to the testing, let alone the interviews.

What I’m trying to find out is:
- What is the usual time frame between a successful initial selection and interviews?
- Are the Technical and Personnel interviews on the same day?
- Are candidates ever called back for a 2nd interview?

If anyone is prepared to answer a couple other questions please PM me.

Thanks in advance.

There was about 3 months between initial tests & interview for me. Time scale is fairly up to you as you book your own slot on the system from several available - if you can't make them - wait a while and more will come up in the following months. Interviews are all held on the same day - few candidates just rotated between personnel, tech and computer stuff on my day. Dunno about 2nd interviews but I can't imagine they do as it seems a fairly cut and dried - your either in or not - process.
