Many years ago I worked there but for a Western company. Lived at the http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/goose.htm (Air Force Base) with the constant roaring of the KC135 taking off for refuelling of the US jet fighters that were the guardians of the hottest cold war border … (That was before the demise of the Soviet Union)…

Got a very close call there when a R.A.F. Vulcan on a low level training mission came from behind and flew below my chopper and the cargo I was slinging… I almost had to drop the cargo… later that night at the “Buldog” bar he admitted that they didn’t saw me… :rolleyes:

Very hard to stay sober on a bar with a bell at the door announcing free rinks for everybody from anyone that decided to ring the darn Bell…
