Just a quick question before I disappear on the razzle!:D

I am starting an FI course in the early New Year and presume that any new instructor will be limited to teaching PPL only. My question is what, if any, are the requirements to teach the IMC rating?

Thanks and have a great evening! :)

Dont drink to little hey.
As you know on completion of your FI rating you will be pretty much the same as I was as an AFI. Once youve done your 25 supervised solo's and submitted your signed form you will become an equivelant of a QFI but to then do IMC rating training my understanding is you need to undertake the old 7 hour UK QFI course and test with FIE on top of that. I guess if you have IR now you could do the course combined with FI/R now. Hope that is correct.

As a FI(R), you will not be able to instruct for the IMC Rating initially; you will have to apply for the 'no applied IF' restriction to be lifted when you have the relevant experience.

See:

for the details.
