Bit of advice, if you don't mind...

For a new PPL, is flying into the British GP (am I right in thinking Turweston is the closest field?) manageable?

I seem to recall someone telling me that the landing fee is around £75 per seat... but I'm looking to take a couple of mates. Don't want to get too big for my PPL boots, though!

Pretty cool way to spend a Sunday, though, right? :)

A landing on Hanger straight would be pretty entertaining and beat the traffic to boot

You used to be able to fly straight into Silverstone, there is a strip in the middle of the circuit. I think now it is Rotary wing only unless you are VERY special. Great thing to do if you can, but you have to have clearance and it is one of those catch22 setups, you can only do it if you have done it before.

Hi HB,

Contact [email protected]

For the full story.

However, I can tell you that it is a really slick operation involving chauffeur-driven 4x4's through the back lanes/ farm tracks directly iinto the site. It takes minutes and is greeeaaat fun!

Hi HB

HP is right, contact the folks at Turweston for the full info.

IIRC it is rotary wing only and even then quite few restrictions apply as it is extremely busy at that time.

Turweston can be contacted on 01280-701167
