I am sorry about asking such a lengthy question, but I am still without access to a 737NG flight deck since September 11th took away some of our freedoms.

Some questions about the 737NG MCP

1. The course control knob increments the course LCD in 1 degree steps. How many steps dose the course display change with one full turn of the course knob.

1a Is the course control's knob rotation dentented?

2. The speed control increments the IAS/Mach LCD in 1 knot steps. How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the speed knob.

2a. With c/o pushed and Mach now displaying in the IAS/Mach LCD the speed control increments in .01 Mach steps on the IAS/Mach LCD, How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the speed knob.

2b Is the speed control's knob rotation dentented?

3. The heading control increments the heading LCD in 1 degree steps. How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the heading knob.

3a Is the heading knob's rotation dentented?

3b. Bank angle selector switch, can the switch be rotated 360 degrees or is it's rotation limited?

4. The altitude control increments the altitude LCD in 100 foot steps. How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the altitude knob.

4a. Is the altitude knob's rotation dentented?

5. The vertical speed control increments the Vertical Speed LCD in 50 FPM steps between 0FPS and 1000FPS. How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the vertical speed knob.

5a. The vertical speed control increments the Vertical Speed LCD in 100 FPM steps between 1000FPS and 6000FPS. How many steps dose the display change with one full turn of the vertical speed knob.

5b. Is the vertical speed knob's rotation dentented?

That's it!

I was provided this information directly

With the displays showing "Zero"

Course = 1 turn = 36 degrees in the display

Heading = 1 turn = 36 degrees in the display

Altitude = 1 turn = 6400 feet in the display

Still need IAS/Mach, and Vert Speed

Not sure if you were still looking for the answers, David, but...

I had a look on one of our 737-800's today and checked the number of clicks per revolution for the Airspeed/Mach selector and there were 36 clicks. On the V/s wheel there was a rather strange 29 clicks (I double checked this and came up with the same result). I have enclosed a shot of the MCP so you can compare it with yours.

Hope this helps.

All the best for 2003
