I have just been looking on the Buzz website and under FAQ's for pilots it says that you will rarely start directly on the jets, the more likely starting point is on turbo-props based at stanstead. Now I was completely unaware that Buzz has any Turboprop aircraft, I though that they were entirely a jet fleet!

As with all good websites it has no information about the fleet or pay scales so I would be greatful if someone could enlighten me.

Cheers:)

Q: Do you recruit direct onto Jets?
A: Occasionally we will recruit directly on the jets, but the normal career progression is via the Turboprop. back

Q: What are your turboprop bases?
A: STN London Stansted

The above extract is published on the buzz website

www.buzz.co.uk

It is under the FAQ's for pilots, now I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that Buzz operates an ALL JET FLEET. So does anyone out there know what turboprops they are talking about and any pay and conditions on this fleet.

Cheers!:)

Buzz used to be part of KLMuk so therefore had F50 to start peeps on, but thats all changed just recently with Buzz now being a seperate company. 8 737's by next June I hear!

KLMuk is a parent of Buzz, and operates ATR 72s and Fokker 50s. Perhaps that's what they mean.

Buzz has eight 146-300s and two 737-300s, with six more coming.

Yep - progression used to be from the KLMuk F50 or ATR onto F100 or 146 then Buzz but with recruitment for the blue fleet now conducted in AMS I fear a good route onto jets via props has now been lost .

Sad really .

Another question regarding KLCuk / Buzz:

If one were a sponsored cadet of KLMuk (as was) due to start with the airline early next year, which part of former KLMuk would you work for?

Possibilities include:

1. Cadet chooses between KLCuk and Buzz
2. Buzz only (straight onto jets v.nice!)
3. Company decides whether to put you in KLCuk or Buzz as req'd

Thanks for any enlightenment

Barney ,

I don't think there is a choice - it's the F50 at KLC .

I have just heard from a very reliable source that all former KLMuk sponsored cadets will now be going straight into BUZZ as 737 f/o's. Better aircraft and pay than KLC so a great piece of luck for all of those cadets who were expecting turboprops.:)

You may be right, and good luck to them, but there are an awful lot of FOs to transfer from the Fokker 100 and 50 first, so it could be some time.

Herod,

How is the reorganisation going at KLMuk - I thought Blue chaps had to make a decision v.soon on which part they wanted to work for?

Are transfer rights Blue - Yellow and vice versa going to remain in the future, or is the split total and irrevocable?

Artificial Horizon,

Don't worry about having to wait for your job if you are sponsored, KLMuk is short of pilots at the moment and has a recruiting freeze, plus buzz is expanding massively, so I expect they will be desperate for fresh blood next year.

Barney, latest update, as of Monday. There was a strike ballot, with a massive vote in favour. At the second meeting with ACAS, right at the last minute, the company conceded some, but not all, of the points in dispute. A ballot resulted in a majority in favour of the company's offer, so the industrial action is off. Blue pilots have another week to decide whether they wish to move to yellow, but have five years to actually make the move. Yellow pilots who had not opted by the end of Nov, cannot go to blue. The two companies are now officially split, yellow is still KLMuk, operating as buzz, blue fleet is now KLCuk. Not a perfect situation, and it will rumble along for many years, but probably as good as the pilots could get. At least everyone is in a job, although perhaps not the one they would like to be in.
