I understand this is a dying trade but still something that interests me (as it also provides another means into the flight deck)

Upon completing my JAR66 maintenance training I was considering going for the training. Who does it in the UK and what's the likelyhood of getting a job?

Got told it would cost about £15k. Is this about right?

Thanks for any advice

Contact Air Transat in Mirabel, Quebec. They conduct periodic training programs for FEs on the L-1011 however you have to act fast as they will be phasing out the L-10s in the future.

The chances of getting a job in the UK as a F/E are very low. The a/c requiring them (747,727, Tristar, DC10, Concorde) are not numerous and are a dying breed. Furthermore there is a large surplus of F/Es in the UK as many 747s were laid-up by Virgin and BA a year ago. There is a shortage of licensed ground engineers though.
