I was at Heathrow today under the 27L App and a Ba i think it was a 737 was on short finals and pulled up and climbed out to 4,000ft and rejoined the ILS this happend between 3-4 Does any body know any thing about this? Thanks David Lucas

What was the reasion for the go around?
This is my idea you take a little bit Air traffic control at Heathrow, a bit Heathrow spirit and mixed with the company B.A. I think that is it. :cool:

Perhaps we could have a 'sticky' explaining that go-arounds are an everyday occurrence, no big deal and enumerate the possible causes.
That way we might avoid a wassat every time some non-pilot happens to witness one.
Maybe a poll too. I'd guess most if not all ATPs here have had at least one, but could be wrong. Suppose it depends where you operate.

Good job we didn't wake anyone with our 0515 go around yesterday. Yes, I'm guilty of it but I'd rather not discuss what would have happened to the Virgin ahead of us if we had rear ended her (no pun intended but PNF was a lady).
Jetdriver, I'm going to say it, go arounds are normal and if you are ahead of the ball, you should be prepared to hit the switches at anytime. Any number of reasons behind missed approaches, Cabin not secured, aircraft config warnings, runway probs, min separation, wake turbulence, the list is not endless but connotations and permutations are vast.
Who's buying the doughnuts.........
