The high speed reversion of V nav all has to do with the FMC update.
If the FMC is update 7.0 the reversion is not available and the aircraft will continue to dive to get to the profile with the message DRAG REQUIRED only as an advisory.
If the FMC is about update 10.0 or higher the reversion is available with the autopilot reverting to level change at the limiting speed.
This obviously only in V nav PATH mode.
