I was planning a trip in a 2.5t single.

Someone told me a landing in Iceland cost USD 250 with fuel as extremely priced. Got me wondering what the most expensive airfield on the planet might be for such an airplane to land, be handled or fuelled....?

What's your call please?

Paid US$ 15 the other day to land at Catalina Island in California. I guess it's reasonable as it's a private strip and not funded by my Federal AvGas fuel tax, but still a hell of a lot more than I'm used to.

Yeh, I know it's not what you wanted :D :D

I gues LGW at £340 during peak times is a biggie! BUT I'd rather pay that than £17 to land and f****g LYDD!!!

Spotted an article in Nov Flyer re new GA grass parking area at Manchester International, off peak runway charge of £6.50 per tonne, two hours free parking. Thought I would ring to find out the catch, It's the £65 handling charge, not mentioned in the magazine.

FBO on Miami - Opa Locka wanted to charge a $50 handling fee just for some guy waving some wands and carrying the chocks to our Piper Arrow. They waived the fee when we bought some fuel off them (minimum of $50 of course!).

Hi

Cannot remember the exact figures for Iceland this June but were certainly nothing extravagant for the C421 that we flew up to Reykjavik.

Hired a C172 for a days bimbling and they were very friendly and easy going and the rates compared favourable at approximately £70 per hour.

Certainly cheaper to go flying than getting sloshed on the beer over there.

If you go nip into Ruby's Tuesday for us and say hello.

I know someone who spent £340 at Stansted after a diversion and nightstop, and this in a 4-seater single...

So much for diversions being exempt. Good old BAA.

For really big bucks landing fees head for Japan!

The guy who flew a Jet Ranger round the world was charged something like $2500 at Tokio (if my failing memory is working)

Speaking to someone from there a few years ago they told me there is virtually no private flying due to the exhorbitant costs
