Small US LoCo, based Kansas City.

Was the subject of a potential acquisition by the owner of Hooters, thereby supplying much jocularity and punning opportunities. And before you ask, Hooters is a restaurant chain in which wholly unremarkable food is served by waitresses with remarkable chests, displayed to advantage (hope that was P.C.).

Due to a recent discrimination lawsuit, hooters now serves unremarkable food by unremarkeable gay waiters as well...:( :(

I thought US carriers were restricted to a maximum of 25% foreign ownership? Besides I think if Virgin had the cash for that they'd have a thousand better things to be doing with it right now.

Probably true HS, but setting up a shell holding company (with US officers) is easily done. Usually in Delaware.

Rumours which do not name sources are usually cobblers. This one most likely is too.

As the former Director of Safety at Vanguard, I can say that the rumors were flying about this several months ago. I personally do not know how true the rumor is, but I do believe that it would be very easy to set up a ghost US holding company to own the airline. However, I believe there is little hope to re-start the airline unless action is taken in a very few days. Most of us have moved on.

I just love answering my own question, not good news though

Vanguard Airlines will liquidate

Vanguard Airlines has run out of suitors and soon will begin liquidating its remaining assets, a lawyer for the Kansas City carrier said Wednesday.

I'm in KC today. I wish there was a different outcome, but it's what we expected.

When it's all over, I will post my opinion on what lead up to the bankruptcy.
