Development at Manston?

Does anyone know the latest news on the proposed Manston development. Wiggins Plc are apparently planning a big expansion but I have seen nothing in the news recently.

A mate of mine reckons the airport owners are in serious talks about bringing in low cost airlines and handling much more freight.

Low cost airlines? I don't think that they'd be interested because of the distance of Manston from any significant catchment area.
I'm absolutely sure that if there was a low cost market, or a passenger market of any significant kind to be snapped up in the area, it would have been done by now.

Freight - definate possibilities - although I can't understand why Wiggins have let this market drift by. A significant amount of freight is flown out of the 3 major London airports.
Perhaps it's the crappy road network to Manston itself?

I agree, but having seen a business brochure from Wiggins in which they say the airport is the best placed for expansion around London, I can't help feeling they have a good chance. And good luck to them.
