Moved to Scotland a few years ago from the States and looking to finish my PPL. The web site for the Edinburgh Flying Club seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know if they are still in existance ?

Thanks

Yes, The club is still in existence.

Based next to the Business Aviation Centre at the General Aviation Terminal of Edinburgh Airport.

They conduct training for PPL, NPPL, IMC, Night.

A/C Types:

PA-38 Tomahawk
PA-28 Warrior
PA-28 Archer
Cessna 172

I am awaiting sitting my skills test with them.

Would recommend the club, its member run so no Business Ethos.

Main advantages:

* The chance to fly from an International Airport. This helps with RT etc.

* Flying Instructors willing to spend time to help you through the training.

* Good discipline as you are flying within an Air Traffic Control Zone every time you go flying.

The disadvantages:

* Being a busy airport owned by BAA, light Aircraft do not get priority over the commercial traffic. Therefore it’s not uncommon to have to orbit while they fit you in.

* Circuit training is conducted away from the field as BAA restricts circuit training at the field. This is a disadvantage on marginal weather days.

There phone number is 0131 339 4990
Open everyday 9:30am - 5:30pm
CFI - Bob Graham

If you want to speak to a Flying instructor best to phone in before hand and arrange a visit on non-flying day.

Hope this helps.. :)

But would recommend the clubs, FI's are very dedicated and flying was fantastic.
