I've just completed a JAR-FCL CPL/IR and given the state of the job market at the moment I realise that a flying job is not going to happen soon unless I'm really lucky. So I would like to ask you guys if you think it would be worth it to try and get an Ops job. I want to work in the industry as I believe it will help in the long run in getting a flying job.

I've done the Cabin Crew thing already, and though it was very useful in getting contacts it is out of the operational loop. So any advice from you guys would be very much appreciated. :D

From an Ops point of view, the answer is a definate YES... nice to have crew around who know exactly what goes on and what the Ops bods have to put up with at times. However... a lot of people will avoid hiring any pilots as they know that first chance of a flying job, they'll disappear, also, a lot of Ops people are in a similar situation to you - they want a job, thing is, there're a LOT of experienced ones out there looking for work right now!

Sorry this post isn't more positive for you, good luck anyway!

JFF:rolleyes:

Yes, a resounding yes.
The ops job has directly lead me to a flying position within the company.
I have learned a lot doing ops. More so than I would have just by flying.
Well worth it. :D
