View Full Version : ME Rating renewal???

Hi folks,

Bit of a 'teccie' question this one, but I've been through the rules and can't find a definative answer. The query is this:

I have an ATPL with lapsed ME rating. I am within the 5 year validity period so need to do a proficiency check. However, I am hoping to be recruited by an airline by next autumn. At which point my ME rating may well have lapsed by more than 5 years. If I do nothing, will I still have a valid ATPL (given that I have renewed my Single piston and ME IR already). And assuming my license remains valid in the above circumstances (effectively, I assume, SE piston IR), will the airlines be bothered by the fact that I don't have a valid ME rating??

Ofcourse, I can always go ahead and renew my ME rating within the 5 year validity period, but is it necessary to do so, given that I will be gaining a ME rating by virtue of line training and conversion??

I told you it was a bit 'teccie'

All advice gratefully received - Cheers
