Does anyone know how ATC Lasham are doing? Went past the other day and saw at least 13 aircraft parked up, including several in DHL livery. Can't be much more room!

Are they all there for repair, or are some redundant, awaiting scrapping ?

I have always wondered what it would like to see a 757 coming in, especially from the West. In the post-9/11 world, is it possible to know in advance when one might be coming in?

Sadly, the aircraft in the SWWAPS museum remain in the open air.

ATC are doing very well it would seem, specialising in later model 737's, 737NG's etc.

Can't comment on the DHL 727's but think they are in storage pending an onward future...having been replaced by A300/B757...

Newswatcher,

ATC LAsham has become the depository for at least one major leasing company for their returned 737-NG fleet, some from Varig and Midway.

w.r.t. the 757's, I had the fun of carrying out this (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/229740/M/) airtest before delivery. The 757 was more than capable of handling the airfield, but it looks horribly short on final approach.

Thanks Hamrah and Boss Raptor,

Hamrah, great photo. That's exactly why I would like to see 757 ops at EGHL! Interesting site, I had not visited for some time. According to the text, the biggest aircraft ever to visit EGHL was a DC-8, back in 1999. I am also pleased to see that ATC hold an Open Day in the summer, I shall make sure I am around for the next one!

I see your aircraft is now flying with MyTravel. If you can, please let me know if you are ever due into EGHL again.

Saw a Sabre 727 land there once, the pilot made it look very easy
MK D/C8s used Lasham regularly, a few years ago when i did some microlighting from Popham one of my fellow pilots worked at Lasham. He told me one day of Nigerian pilot who was very
reluctant to land,i think a 707.Apparantly he was still a nervous
wreck an hour after landing.
