Spirit Airlines (SAVE.N), opens new tab (https://www.reuters.com/markets/companies/SAVE.N) said on Monday it has reached a deal with Airbus (AIR.PA), opens new tab (https://www.reuters.com/markets/companies/AIR.PA) to delay all aircraft deliveries scheduled from the second quarter of 2025 through 2026 and intends to furlough about 260 pilots, as the U.S. carrier looks to save cash.

Could this be related to a certain US major said to be looking for available neo delivery slots?

It is probably not just one, but basically all three (plus many others).
In any case, it will be the reason Airbus is lenient on delaying them.

With a circa 8000 aircraft backlog I'm sure Airbus aren't too worried AND of course it opens up slots for other buyers
