It’s not a unpaid leave. It’s a blank line. You can pick up and fly as much or little as you want from unassigned trips.

They offered this to 25 pilots. The pilot group is over 17,000 at United.

That should be easy. If the program is voluntary, just don't participate.

Depending on the time of year and bid status, these can go quite senior. I know at least one person who wanted one and wasn’t senior enough to get it.
