Anyone catch the BA42 (G-STBC) landing at LHR from CPT this morning ? Pretty horrible landing by all accounts. My sister (a very regular flier) was onboard and said it was the worst she'd ever experienced. I know, I know it was probably nothing. However the aircraft is not back in service until tomorrow morning. Again maybe totally coincidence and regular maintenance check or has she been pulled out for inspection after a heavy landing ?

May not even be a maintenance check - may literally just be that it's not scheduled to fly any other sectors. Even if it were towed over to the maint. base, that could just be to park it and free up a stand on the terminal. Happens all the time. Not sure of your relation to aviation so forgive me if i'm teaching you to suck eggs, but I'd also caution against assessing a landing by the accounts of a pax, as regular as they may be at flying. What may feel rough as old boots in the cabin may well be perfectly acceptable in terms of stability and safe landing criteria. The folk up the front at BA take thatChe very, very seriously I believe, and rightly so.

Most early-morning BA long-haul arrivals depart for somewhere later in the day, but not all.

Monday's arriving BA42, for example, didn't go out until yesterday morning.

According to FR24 STBC is currently en-route from Cape Town and arriving early hours of tomorrow. STBM arrived this AM (24th) and then left again mid morning for Bridgetown.

There maybe a mix up of registrations somewhere though.

I'd check FR24 again, if I were you.

I'd check FR24 again, if I were you.The OP's post concerned BA42 arriving LHR on 24 Jan, which would have been a 23 Jan departure from CPT. If I have read it right, FR24 seems to say the following.

G-STBC operated:
21 Jan dep LHR 1851 arr CPT 22 Jan 0751 (BA43)
22 Jan dep CPT 2127 arr LHR 23 Jan 0720 (BA42)
23 Jan dep LHR 1920 arr CPT 24 Jan 0802 (BA43)
24 Jan dep CPT 2109 arr LHR 25 Jan 0658 (BA42)
G-STBM operated:
21 Jan dep JFK 1956 arr LHR 22 Jan 0656 (BA176)
22 Jan dep LHR 1854 arr CPT 23 Jan 0731 (BA43)
23 Jan dep CPT 2113 arr LHR 24 Jan 0639 (BA42)
24 Jan dep LHR 1053 arr BGI 24 Jan 1521 (BA255)
24 Jan dep BGI 1759 arr LHR 25 Jan 0520 (BA254)
I think FR24 times are take-off and landing, rather than departure and arrival, but it makes no difference here. The underlined flight seems to be the one that the OP was asking about: TBM, which was on her way again after only four hours at LHR. So I read FR24 the same way as 5711N0205W.

Agreed - I was getting my arrival and departure days mixed up, FR24 is indeed correct.
