Hi all, Just curious about what you are being paid if undertaking a 4-week type rating conversion in Europe when just starting a new position. Thanks for the info you can provide.

It depends on the company and where you are in your career. In my examples below, we're going down from medium Jet Transport, medium Turbo-prop Transport, to a medium Turbo-prop Commuter, or from where I am now at a major airline back to the dark days of starting out.

At my current spot and last spot, we would be paid our MMG (77 hours) on step pay plus a whack of money for time away from base, plus all the additional extras. All up I figure for a new pilot it would be in the area of about $6,000 before tax, compared to around $3,700 if done in base.

At the last shop, it would have been the hourly rate multiplied by 4 hours per working day, with no credit for days off. There would be a per diem thrown in there too, which was a daily rate, but I can't recall how much. Starting out though, I'd expect my hours to be paid at Year 1, so not great - call it around $3,500 - $4,000.

At the shop previous to that, it was the same hours multiplied by step rate and no per diem as such, but the company was great about taking care of the bill for meals, within reason. So about $1,700 but you don't have to worry about the meals. This is the only company I've ever come across that pays the meals for you (outside a corporate environment).
