Crew Maldives Holidays (https://www.crewmaldives.com/) is the leading travel agency for the Maldives providing exclusive discounts for airline/aviation employees. It offers the widest range of accommodation across the Maldivian Islands. How did it all start and to what does it owe its success? We asked founder and CEO, Martin Moncmann.
How did Crew Maldives Holidays come to be?
As with a lot of things, it all started very simple, and I would say unexpectedly. I worked as airline crew at a major airline for 10 years. Maldives is a popular destination, however, very few airlines regularly fly to the Maldives and stay for a layover. Most of the flights to the Maldives operated by airlines are usually turnarounds. Maldives fascinated me with its beautiful nature, opportunities for leisure and very welcoming culture. But there was never an opportunity to explore it as airline crew operating a flight. I decided it would be great if I could change this.
How is it possible that I can book a holiday in the Maldives with up to 70% discount with your agency?
Our discounts are exclusively for airline/aviation employees. We have contracts with many resorts in the Maldives and due to our high volume of bookings our rates are amongst the best in the market. All our rates are final and inclusive of all services, accommodation, meal plan, taxes, fees, transfers, and local assistance services in the destination. There are no additional fees or hidden charges. This is our main advantage as most public booking portals add taxes and fees to their basic rate and do not include transfers fees to the resorts. These additional charges make up a substantial amount when booking a holiday in the Maldives.
How did you go about achieving this?
As airline crew, I was accustomed to receiving discounts across all sectors and many travel benefits such as discounted airline tickets. However, there was no benefit offering discounted holidays in the Maldives, so I decided to pursue my idea. I founded Crew Maldives Holidays and started forming partnerships with the resorts. I negotiated completive rates so that airline/aviation employees could experience this luxurious destination and make their dream holiday in paradise a reality.
When you founded Crew Maldives Holidays in 2019, did you image that it would be this successful?
At that time my focus was on earning my customer’s trust, providing them with a five-star experience and building Crew Maldives Holiday’s reputation. A holiday in the Maldives is an unforgettable experience and I wanted to make the booking process as easy as possible. For that reason, we offer our clients a final price for their holiday, no hidden fees, or additional charges. Full transparency is among our core values.
How has your vision changed since 2019 when you established Crew Maldives Holidays?
What changed from 2019 is how we operate. Initially I use to manage everything myself including doing the bookings manually. We offered completive rates combined with excellent customer service and in doing so grew through positive reviews and repeat business. This motivated me to expand and grow the company more. The COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge, business completely stopped for some time, but at that point I knew this is something I want to continue to build. I left my job as airline crew to dedicate all my time and effort to improving and expanding Crew Maldives Holidays. Once restrictions were eased and clients could travel again, I was ready to offer them competitive packages to visit the Maldives.
What are the major accomplishments Crew Maldives Holidays have achieved?
We have received 100% positive reviews (https://www.facebook.com/crewmaldivesholidays/reviews) from our clients. This for me, means so much that we were able to create lifelong memories for our customers as this was my original goal. I am happy to see that the hard work, networking, visiting all major travel fairs, and offering our services to airlines and aviation companies across the world paid off. Through Crew Maldives Holidays our partner airlines and aviation companies can offer their employees discounted rates on holiday packages in the Maldives.
