Has anyone else visited Shoreham recently? with a £35.70 landing fee, thats more expensive than Southend with full ATC and radar !, and on many days an air/ground service only, poor value for money.
And fuel at £2.49 per litre, must be the most expensive for a long distance, again, even more expensive than Southend!! come with full tanks!!

As I enjoy my twilight years I can reflect that things never change. When I was a lad collecting landing fees lost count of the number of times that I heard “How much? I just wanted to land here, not buy the place!”.

When I did my PPL a C150 was £17.50 an hour, what is it now £100 ish? Flying has never been a cheap hobby. Landing away fee cost me about £4-5.00.

Maintaining a Licensed Aerodrome, even with only AGCS, is not cheap.

Shoreham was great in the days of Air South back in the 1980’s.

I agree there have always been the moaners in aviation.Sadly they have been responsible for the decline in GA over the years.

I know at one time that there was a strong suggestion that Shoreham was structuring its prices to try and control the huge amount of traffic it received. Some days you simply could not get in and out of the place as you could not get a word in edgewise on the frequency.

If they're dropping from ATC to A/G it's probably a result of controller shortages ( an industry problem) rather than choice.
