Q: The B777 allows for dispatch under certain conditions with a main fuel tank quantity indication inop. But the fuel leak checklist in the QRH requires you to compare L & R tank quantities , which you obviously can’t do. Is there some other way to manage a suspected fuel leak or is the MEL predicated on “risk management” and if you happen to have a fuel leak with this MEL, it just isn’t your day?

Don´t fly the 777, but looking at the (identical) MEL restrictions and QRH checklists for the 757/767 which have the same fuel tank arrangement, look at the (O) Operational procedure in the MEL. It details pretty much what to do at least for the 757/767. And it is a non-ETOPS item.

Oceancrosser…
don’t have access to the 57/67 MEL. In a nutshell, what is the procedure?
Thx.
