I saw this on FaceBook about my favourite UK airfield:

What happened to the previous operator?

Guy Ritchie has bought the airfield (from Alan Curtis?) with no interest in running things day to day, thus the change i believe.

Never been there for some reason, would have made a nice reasonably local trip when I used to get the odd ride in Dan-Air's C150*... must remember to ask my my ex-PPL mate if he ever took her down there.

*32 years almost to the day since she crashed after running out of fuel giving a Christmas treat to a nephew... :(

Who is Alan Curtis? Not a name I ever came across in over 15 years of residency at Compton Abbas. As I understand it, Aero Legends are going to operate flying training at Compton. Ashdown Estates (Guy Ritchie) will run the airfield, restaurant, hangars etc.

Alan Curtis used to own the airfield, no idea when he sold it though, presumably more than 15 years ago! He also owned the only private Bulldog G-AXIG until ex mil examples became available and put some money into developing the Cranfield A1 aerobatic aircraft in the 1970s. Also associated with the strip at Frensham I think.
