Hi all...today here at Faro, Portugal, i noticed a very peculiar and totally new thing regarding Airbus Family...this very pretty young and new A320 NEO of Eurowings Germany, D-AENB, has a landing light system that even in other 320Family NEO operators i havent seen before....not the typical retracting ldg lights, but these new type "as per" other manufacturers philosophy...

Here three pics i've taken.

On the normal site of previous lights, nothing at all in this one...

So my question,,,is this a very very new option for an operator when purchasing the new ones NEO's, its a rqst only from Eurowings, or is it standard from now on on all NEO's?

As far as i know those landing lights were initially developed for the A321NEO XLR and are now standard on the very newest NEO deliveries. Of course. It being an aircraft OEM, it could very well be a customer option. The only companies with a longer option list than Porsche are Boeing and Airbus….

This is a disaster. Landing light extension is a critical part of my descent energy management.

These new LED Multi-Functional Runway Light (MFRL) replace not only the Retractable Landing Lights but also all of the Nose Landing Gear lights.
