Oops forgot to fold the wingtips.

More seriously wasn't anywhere close. Wonder how they got it that wrong 🤔

They are on BB2. Must have missed the turn down to U and thought they could skip straight onto Z. They have ended up in the Regional Jet parking apron with a taxiway wingspan max of 36m. Tad shy of the 65m needed to get down there.

Well they just followed ATC instruction perfectly

Interesting - so they were routed to an innapropriate taxiway ?

Oh oh,... I took a second look and now I see that the lamp post will need to be replaced!

No matter what ATC cleared the crew fo do, the crew could not judge that? Thats is not clipping the wing tip!

If only obstacles like that could be fitted with some sort of illuminated beacon...🙂

according to an article from 'liveandletsfly' all four pilots on board the aircraft have been fired.

according to an article from 'liveandletsfly' all four pilots on board the aircraft have been fired. The is the expat risk. With 2 sets of crew onboard all in the cockpit then all are liable for anything that goes wrong. In this case a taxiing down a Max 36 wingspan taxiway should have been picked up by someone... Clearly it wasn't.

Note to those scrambling to join Qatar…in the Middle East you are only as good as your last sector. ( Even if on that sector you are in the back seats.)

Looking at Google Earth, the taxiway doesn't seem to have any paintwork listing the wingspan limits - These seem to appear (very usefully!) in some places (for an example you could check EHAM ramp here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/search/eham/@52.2997218,4.7557522,132m/data=!3m1!1e3)). Simple, cheap, effective...

Ball note #13 on the airport diagram chart. No other reference that I can find.

were only two in the cockpit. Atlanta Chicago is not a long flight. I don't know if was any dead heading crew. Even if was any why to fire them. It's not reasonable. I am not sure the article is correct

ORD is a jungle, even for this former United pilot!
l have a bad feeling these poor bastards flew all the way from Doha to Atlanta and then Chicago?
Talking about being so fatigued, you turn into a taxiway not authorized for your aircraft and perhaps with some help from a sleepy Ground Controller you find that damn light pole that jumps in front of you out of nowhere and wrap your wing around it!
l have no idea what happened nor l want blame anyone without knowing al the facts. But for QR to fire these guys on the spot, without any investigation is petty ****ty, l think.
l trained a couple of QR 777 crews when they first got them and a little familiar with their “off with their heads” culture. Those of you on Linkdin may want to have some fun finding my post about this, and the beatings l received from non pilots and obviously QR shills for suggesting fatigue may have been a part in this unfortunate incident.
lf you’ve never fallen asleep inside the Marker, hand flying a 707, don’t bother! 😎

You can’t see the wingtip from the flight deck of a 777

If this was a purpose built 777F (not a 777-200 freighter conversion), it's based on the 777-200LR (without the extra fuel tanks) - same engines and wings as the 777-300ER.

Yes, it's a purpose-built freighter, so the -300ER wing.

Plus the flight deck is closer to the wing than on the -300. :O

So the mods decided to delete my post that you CAN see the wingtip from a 77LR or 77F from inside the flightdeck. This after I stood my ground after being made ridiculous from this zzz poster.. Got over 20k hours on Triple and I know the 777F pretty much inside out.

Can any Rep from Boeing in Seattle, or anyone from Boeing flightops step in and squash this fake news that it would NOT be possible to see the wingtip from the 777F/LR jumpseat. Maybe I should post a picture to proof my point!
Obviously from the old 772 or the 77W this is NOT possible.

That's quite a lot of piloting experience on the 777, considering it's been in service for around twenty years. 1000 hours of flying it each of twenty years? I guess you know the type very well!

Its actually 25K but they’ve (correctly) applied 80% factorisation to their flight sim hours.

Lol..
Just check my posting history and you will see I worked in a part of the world where factorising is done on real flighthours!
Anyhow, please someone flying a 77F or 77LR these days, check my statement and report back! You will be surprised!
Again, can only be seen from the jumpseat by planting your face against one of the 2 aft windows.

Sorry, for my previous comment. I have never flown a 777 freighter; only the pax version. I stand corrected.

However your earlier comment (now removed) regarding the FO not looking out of the window before hitting the lamppost was not massively helpful!

Who were you flying with and what type were you on, before you joined EK 5star?

ok. tx. accepted. I did however not make a judgement call on the qatari crew! I would be the last one to make such a statement having worked in the ME. I just corrected your statement, something not many people seem to realise....
