Hi,

I gained my PPL in 2007, PFC done in 2009. After that I lost the ability to continue my flying, but now I’d like to get back into flying. Unfortunately I have lost my license (brown book from CAA) and logbook.

I have tried to fill out the replacement form at CAA, but requires a rating attached when submitting.
Any guidance on how to regain my PPL? I am aware some sort of training is needed, but hope one can describe the process for me.

Thank you!

Probably your best course of action would be to contact the CAA and request details of the PPL you were issued with. Armed with that information you could go to a Flying School and complete sufficient training to pass a Proficiency Check, then you could complete the application form and attach the new rating.

Last I heard an expensive visit to the big grey building was required. I have a print out on my notice board of the procedure but I'm elsewhere today. However, they are making some very sensible changes to various things since January 1st, so contacting may work. Can you get any info from the operator you trained with?

Whopity, I don't see how anyone examiner could produce a new rating, or sign a cert, without seeing a licence.

Thats why I said they will have to obtain details of the licence from the CAA to show the school.
