According to this:

https://www.aviation24.be/miscellaneous/russo-ukrainian-war/powerful-cyber-attack-on-russias-civil-aviation-authority-servers-no-more-data-nor-back-up/

A powerful and effective cyberattack on the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) infrastructure that took place on Saturday morning has erased all documents, files, aircraft registration data and mails from the servers.
The authorities are now looking for a backup, if any. The Aviation Herald wrote that no backup of these data exists (https://avherald.com/h?article=4f6a8fd6&opt=0) due to lack of funds allocated by Russia’s Ministry of Finance

What would be the longer term impact if this is true - or is Russian finished as an aviation state either way?

Not surprising , but as far as I understand it does not directly affect ATC , just administration and management, internal communications . the pure ATC servers are generally ,protected ( at least they should be) as separated from admin ones and normally not connected to Internet.)
If,as noreted, , all the files and plans are deleted , collected charges will be difficult, they are in losing a lot of income.,

Wouldn't that be just the thing to report, if you wanted to make unlimited excuses...?

Putins Palace did cost estimated $1500000000 (the amount of zeros is correct). I'd bet quite a big portion of that came from undisclosed sources within government projects such as the ATC backup servers....

Yeah sure their data wasn't backed up securely.
From one of the homes of state level cyber war I have difficulty swallowing this story.
I wonder what the real idea is here.

Possibly, but possibly not. If you aren't recorded as an employee, you can't sign into the system.

More crucially, if all the administration and management records are gone, no one's getting paid, and very few people will work for free.

Suppose if you lost the records that say your aeroplane's C of A has been revoked, then you can justifiably say you didn't know.

Equally if the central records of anything were last, you can rely on the paper copy you just happened to have in your drawer.

I find it quite amusing that this should happen in "Hacker Central" ... someone opposed to what's happening in Ukraine, perchance?

There's a lovely proletariat saying that goes something like "we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us".

My guess is the removal of records related to the leasing of planes to Russia. So they can prevaricate in handing them back.

Have a look at Anonymous' Twitter feed. "They" apparently did it.
