Have just returned from Stapleford airfield from my first flight in a PA28-161 Warrior (G-SACI). I usually take my lessons in a Cessna 152; but I decided to give the PA28 a try, as its probably what I am going to be flying post-ppl.

Well, the flight was great! For 40 minutes, we were cruising around the skies at about 2000 feet, around the docks, essex, and loads of other places!

Must admit though- Ive never concentrated so much on flying than when I was in the PA28! I was nackered afterwards!

Does anyone else get the feeling of pressure in the ears when theytake the headset off? Strangely, in the 152 I dont get this, yet with the PA28 it seems that I do.

Looking forward to replies...

Having owned a share in a Warrior for nearly 3 years I've never felt any pressure at all in the ears or anywhere.

In addition, after the Tomahawk I learned to fly in it's proved to be a simple, no nonsense go places machine which suits me fine :) As for feeling knackered - never. I've done 2 and 3 hour flights and felt just as fresh as when I got airborne.

It's not the PA28 that's making your ears feel strange. Might be the headset, or the cold you're getting, or just exhaustion from concentrating on the flying.

PA28s are nice, simple, docile, competent flying machines. They dont do everything for everyone, but I get around plenty...

Not quite sure why - it's a very docile aeroplane. Did you remember to trim it...? :D

Hi, glad you had fun in SACI. I did my PPL skills test in this bird, and I love her! A bit frayed round the edges, but shes recently had a recon engine fitted, so she flies like a dream. She also has the best avionics of all the Warriors at Stapleford, RNAV, 2 VOR'S etc etc. Who did you go up with? I was flying G-MEAH today (Arrow) tried to get to Le2K, BUT had to turn back at Dover due to low cloud. As I taxied back, SACI was just leaving with a youngish chap (about 13:00) was that you?

Hope to see you there, I'll buy you a coffee! (I usually spend most of my time in the radio room, week day afternoons when I really should be flying)!

Look forward to meeting you!

...and just to show you all how small this world really is, I was due to have G-SACI after you (3-4:30pm) but had it cancelled. ;) She's a little older but with that new engine and avionics set she's also my favorite.
