Validation ICAO PPL to fly in Europe

Hello guys,

Has anyone had to experience this type of validation allowing us to fly in Europe with a Third country (non EU) PPL? If so, was it a long process to obtain it?
I have heard it is possible to have an authorization to fly for about 1 year in EASA.

There is a ruleset for that, no idea how hard it is and how long it takes.

So If I understood well I would need to pass 2 theory exams & have at least 100H of flight in order to fly for fun in Europe :*

Depending which non-EU country we are talking about adding an instrument rating is a very sensible way at to add 45-50 hrs to your logbook.
Makes you a safer pilot too.

Validations are normally valid for a year with the option to extend by a further year under limited circumstances.

There's a separate validation available for non-commercial flying for up to 28 days per calendar year, which is not subject to the one year time limit. This second validation requires an acclimatisation flight with an instructor rather than a skill test.

Thirdly under article 12(4) of the Aircrew Regulation the EU/EFTA states may accept third country licences for non-commercial activities without being subject to either of the above time limits, until 20 Jun 2022. A list of states applying the latter provision is provided by EASA in the file derogations from Regulation (EU) 1178/2011 at https://www.easa.europa.eu/document-library/regulations/opt-out-from-regulations

My only doubt now is whether I need 100 hrs time fly to obtain this validation...as if it is the case I am screwed.
