View Full Version : ARINC 424 missed approach coding limitation

Does anyone know if there is a limitation in the missed approach coding that means only one missed approach is possible for a specific approach?

Some approaches have different initial approach tracks, I.e. for A/B and C/D approach categories, under a single approach indicator. In the case where the missed approaches are different, is this possible under a single approach indicator?

Many Spanish airports show multiple approach indicators where the initial, intermediate and final approach are identical, but the missed approaches vary - usually because they are based on different nav aids.

So, is it the case where if there are different “fronts” to an approach, this can be catered for in the ARINC 424 coding by using different transitions from the same IAF to reflect different approach category routings, but only one missed approach category can exist for a unique approach indicator?

thanks in advance to anyone who can shed a bit of light on this. I appreciate it’s a fairly uncommon issue.
