BA is currently operating a daily LHR SFO LHR flight using 787’s (BA285/4). This flight never appears on either the LHR or SFO information boards and BA’s own website shows it as cancelled but each day Flight Radar shows it flying. Does anybody know why this is?
Also, given all the current travel restrictions, who are all the passengers travelling on this flight, and indeed on all the other US flights that are operating daily? Just curious.

I'm not quite up to speed on the current operation but on and off over the last year it (like many other US services) have been operated as a freight only service.

Also, given all the current travel restrictions, who are all the passengers travelling on this flight,

Don't know abut the specifics of the SFO flight but many countries still allow entry by air to certain categories of passengers.....for example diplomats, some medical professionals, sometimes own nationals repatriating, forces personnel, essential workers in certain occupations etc etc etc.....a careful the US state department/UK gov websites should help you track down the details.

Hi Raymond, this issue has already been covered elsewhere. Many airlines are currently operating cargo only flights with converted passenger aircraft. In many cases they are using regular pax flight numbers.

Take a look at the BA Source website for daily details of the cargo only operations
