Bell UH-57B (Bell 206B) JetRanger III of the Chilean Navy hit a small drone, resulting in a cracked windscreen and injuries to an occupant (not the pilot).
Photos from the drone suggest it was a DJI Mavic Air 2 (0.57 kg).

EASA land now have more strict regulation on drones (https://www.easa.europa.eu/newsroom-and-events/news/easa-publishes-updated-easy-access-rules-drones), but no real tools to act in real time on the field.
The law is after you only when your video or stills are present on public networks much later, without proper paperwork.

I am SOOOOOO glad my helicopter career started and ended before the drone invasion. I have no doubt there will be many deadly accidents between drones and helicopters. Fly safe everyone.

Over fifteen years ago I was flying at 1300 feet in the LHR CTR (then class A) when an aerobatic R/C model aircraft flew vertically up in front of me, just outside the rotor disc. I’d estimate it had a 1.5 metre wingspan and it passed close enough to see that it had a tuned exhaust pipe along the side of the fuselage. It was being flown just north of Brent reservoir. I reported it to ATC but nothing came of it.

And that's a huge issue... why did nothing become of it?? Do we wait until the disk shattered and all fall to ground?? Is someone going to stand up and say "oooops, my bad.."

And what would you propose be done? Short of outright banning UAV op's, because that is never going to happen.

We have rules, reg's, radios, ADS-B and every other sort of thing and we still have mid-air's between full size aircraft.

Nothing will ever be perfect.

Personally I'd like to see UAV op's on TIS-B, but the FAA says that'll never happen, that it'll overwhelm the system no matter how you get that data, via ADS-B or otherwise. I'd also like to promote a nationwide "DTAF" freq. so that you could coordinate if needing to enter a DROTAM area, but that isn't happening either. So in the meantime we've got the magic 400 foot rule (in the US). Best be aware there are both plastic and flappy birds below that altitude, and occasionally above that as well, unfortunately.
