Question for the A320 gurus.

Why is it that when going to a fix on an ILS at (for example) a ~20 degree intercept in NAV, when the approach is armed, it’ll leave the NAV path and attempt to capture the localiser at what is invariably a larger intercept angle?

Been scratching my head on this for a while.

Have a look here. It looks as though you asked a very similar question in 2018.

Thanks Tubby. I remembered that post, but it was on a slightly different function, so I didn’t even think to review it.

FlightDetent linked the 2 things in post 9 though. Seems it’s a byproduct of the enhanced loc capture function.

Forgetting things you already knew? Welcome to years 5-8. :}

BTW 2020 is so strange. Under normal circumstances, you'd deserve some flak for being so embedded over the Christmas time. Whereas these days, I am thankful and happy to imagine perhaps within the last week you may have had a reason to ask such a thing - having actually flown the bird. Did you? Would be the only one I know.

The rest here https://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/634174-friday-memes-part-1-a-14.html#post10949179. Blue skies and happy landings, may 2021 be later known as the first year after the pandemic, ENTER. :ok:

Haha. You’re right on with that 5-8 years bit. What comes next?

I’m actually flying more now than I have since this all started.
