"Annex 1 Part A Exceptions to the Minimum Height Requirements

1) General (SERA.5005(f)(2)) a) The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) permits, under paragraphs SERA.3105 and SERA.5005(f), an aircraft to fly at a height of less than 150 metres (500 feet) above the highest obstacle within a radius of 150 metres (500 feet) from the aircraft, subject to the condition set out in subparagraph (b).

b) The aircraft must not be flown closer than 150 metres (500 feet) to any person, vessel, vehicle or structure except with the permission of the CAA."

What's happened to the above, has it's demise passed me by? If it is still alive somebody needs to tell the MATS management department at the CAA.

It is their way of saying that the contents of this document do not apply to class 'F' and 'G' airspace.

Does this mean that instead of the current rule at my home airfield where minima is a cloud base of 1,400 ft QNH, in future it will be clear of cloud and in sight of the surface and observing the 500 foot rule ?

An airfield can make whatever byelaws (rules) it chooses to demand of it's users. The UK VMC rules of the air have nothing to do with it. No airfield can expect anyone to break the law obviously.
