Can a TRE sign the revalidation by experience for an SEP Class rating ? Certainly used to be able to but not sure if that still applies !

If I was asked that as an exam question I'd say yes, but only if he/she had a current SEP and 945 privileges. I'm sure a guru will be along any time soon......

Assuming a UK TRE, then yes - it's purely administrative action, which can be carried out for a UK licence holder by the holder of any UK Flight/Class Rating/Type Rating Examiner certificate. They do not themselves need to hold similar ratings, since they're purely carrying out administrative action and logbook verification. This is reasonably common when Revalidation by Experience is achieved without a dual refresher/training flight, but is instead achieved with 12 hours SEP and a LPC in work aircraft/sim.
